Mobile Website Design 2021

50-70% of Your Visitors Are on Mobile...

Are You Maximizing The Smartphone Space?

8 TIPS FOR MOBILE WEBSITE DESIGN

What should your mobile website design look like?

Your mobile website design should reflect the desktop experience but there are important modifications and adjustments to consider for your mobile website experience.

1. SHORT ATTENTION SPANS

We've got them. Even more so on mobile so you are going to want to cull down your website content to only the most essential elements.

2. VISITOR PATH SIMPLICITY

Keep it basic. Remove buttons or menu items on mobile which create too many options.

3. LESS COPY (WORDS)

Pare it down as much as possible.

There is simply less space here and you are going to lose your audience, quickly. Get visitors the info they have come for, quickly. You may find you can hide whole paragraphs or sections of pages.

4. LESS PHOTOGRAPHY

You do not need to include every single photo you have on your desktop. If you have a strip with 4 photos going horizontally across your site on desktop, you probably only need one of those photos on your mobile scroll.

5. LESS PAGES

Hide any superfluous pages on mobile. The less a visitors has to navigate to get to where YOU want them to go, the better. You are going to get less time and attention on mobile than desktop. Use that time and attention, wisely!

6. UNCLUTTERED FOOTER

Delete some of the elements in your footer, as makes sense. Again, you just want the meat of your website visible. The most valuable bits.

7. ADJUST FONT SIZES

For design, you may have some large text on mobile but, in general, you don't want fonts too big or too small. Too small is unreadable and too big is obnoxious. A smaller font looks more lux and refined but, again, be sure it is a readable size.

8. REVIEW IT ON YOUR PHONE

Your website is designed in a desktop editor. While that editor approximates the smartphone display experience, you can't get the real "feeling" of your mobile design and mobile website user experience without... experiencing it. Review all pages on your phone.
